Honeymoon in Review

Aloha!

The Husband (yep...I've changed it to The Husband!) and I made our triumphant return to Boston Life yesterday. We spent over 24 hours traveling back from the beautiful state of Hawaii. After leaving Maui at 3 pm on Friday, we traveled to Los Angeles, where we stayed overnight at The Husband's cousins house. Despite the jet lag and running on 3 hours of sleep the night before (we just HAD to party til 5 am our last night in Maui!) we went out for pizza and beer at 11 o' clock. LA is one of our favorite places in the world (yes, really). It is just a matter of time until we move to So Cal. So it only made sense to take advantage of a night in LA. The next morning at 8, we began our final leg into Boston, arriving at 5 pm. After opening all of our post-wedding mail (2 weeks worth of bills...yay!), we opened some last-minute wedding packages. We also got our wedding photos full-resolution pictures on DVD, as well as our Photobooth Guest Book :) It was a great surprise to come home to. We went out for a less-than-exciting first meal back at the not-so-famous John Brewers Tavern, came home, and passed out on the same couch for a few hours before heading into our bed. After 15 hours of sleep, we woke up at 3:30 pm (yes... that's real life). We felt like wastes of life...but I guess our bodies needed it.

In any event, we had an AMAZING time in Maui. Everything about the trip was just amazing. Check out my Instagram for many of the images from our amazing trip, or type in our hashtag #omgitsmyhoneymoon for all of the pics :)

A compilation of our looooong layover in San Fran!
We had a 2 hour layover in San Francisco on our way to Maui. Well...it started out as 2 hours. Soon after landing it was delayed another 2 hours, so we decided to take advantage of our long layover. We headed out toward the city so The Husband could experience San Fran for the first time. Not long after we arrived in by the Bay did we receive another phone call telling it was delayed yet again...another 2 hours. We extended our stay, finding a fun little restaurant by the Bay, watched some seals lounging in the sun, and bought some delicious Ghirardelli chocolates in Ghirardelli Square. After a 7 hour delay, we arrived at the airport to find that our flight had been canceled. Hooray. After many hours of fighting with the airlines (if you can help it, never fly United), we got on a flight to LA that night, with a flight to Maui leaving the next morning. The nightmare of this layover to come at another time...trust me, it would take an entire blog post to give you all the details. Spoiler alert: it was a nightmare.

After arriving at LAX, we stayed at the LAX Marriott. Too bad we couldn't enjoy it :(
Before heading to our resort, we stocked up on all the essentials
The bedroom portion of our suite. Pretty "suite" right? See what I did there...

Oceanfront Room. Look at that view! We got to wake up to this every morning
Sunset on our first night in Maui
First Mai Tai of our honeymoon!

Jetlag had me all screwed up, so I woke up on my own at 5:30. Being on the West side of the island I didn't get a full view of the sunrise, but here was the result from our deck
One of my favorite pictures from the trip. This was taken on my sunrise beach walk our first morning in Maui.
On an impromptu drive North, we stumbled upon Honolua Bay. Just a pic from the trail leading to the rocky beach
Upon driving further North, we drove through Old Kahakuloa Village. Bought some delicious banana bread and passion fruit butter. Mmmmmm
That evening, we went to a luau, courtesy of my lovely sister.
Us at sunset. I can never get enough of these Hawaiian sunsets

Another one of my favorite photos from our trip. We are in Wailea at Polo Beach.
Another sunset at Ka'anapali
Little creeper at the Paradise Bar in Ka'anapali. We frequented this bar throughout our trip and made friends with a bunch of locals :)

On the Road to Hana. Here we stopped at the Twin Falls Farm Stand before venturing on the trail in search of Twin Falls.
Never actually made it to Twin Falls, but found some awesome sights along the way.
Almost to Hana, but our last stop before was the Black Sand beach...Immaculate

On our sunset dinner cruise. I think we saw a rainbow every single day on our trip.
Sunset cruise :)
Just arrived back in time for a final shot of the gorgeous sunset

Sunset...you didn't think I'd hold out on you did ya...?

Boat view of Molokini. Prime snorkeling spot. We saw turtles and dolphins!
In search of firework spotting real estate. Look at the hustle and bustle of Old Lahaina Town on the 4th!
Found this gem: Kimo's. We had eaten here the night before (to die for fish), and the bar overlooks the ocean where the firework barge was set up. Prime firework real estate sold!
Fireworks! This is not zoomed in!
Last night at Paradise. Just shootin' some pool with some new friends

Saying goodbye to Hawaii (and our rental car)

These are just a handful of the pictures I took from our honeymoon. We had an amazing time...so sad to see it end. Now onto real life as newlyweds :)

Aloha,
